The end of term has been and gone… and I’m still in Leeds. “Why?”, I hear you cry. “Should you not be at home?”, I hear you cry. “How come you can hear what we’re saying from that far away?”, I hear you cry.

The reason, oh faithful readers, is that I still have a mid-project report to finish for my final year project, and if I go home it just won’t get done. It really doesn’t feel like the Christmas vacation. It should, instead, be named “The time of no lectures, but just as much work, and oh yes - you have exams to revise for, too”, which I think is much more apt. Final Year at Uni should come with a health warning… possibly before the degree begins! My absence over the last few weeks has been the result of this problem - when I haven’t been doing coursework, i’ve just been generally lazy, trying to enjoy myself and not think about deadlines or commitments.

That being the general theme of my state of mind, the question of postgraduate studies has arisen once more - do I want to go and do pg work, whether taught or research, or do I just want to get out there, and if so where do I go? And the answer is… I have no idea! None whatsoever! I’m hoping that a couple of weeks away from Leeds, which will commence from this Thursday, will provide some clarity, though given the amount of work I’ll be taking home with me I doubt it’ll feel like being away from Uni. Although, I have had the habit over the last few years of not getting anything done when I’m at home!

However, one notable point of excitement about this recent weekend - the Nintendo Wii is quite possibly the best thing to have ever been invented, ever, really, not kidding here! Admittedly, I have rather bad RSI from playing it for so long, but it’s just soooooo good! Whoever thought of having a remote control to do everything, and that you actually swing the remote as you would a bad or racket to do what you want is a genius. Similarly, quickly moving that remote up and down causes cows to jump with amusing sound effects is a stroke of ultimate wisdom!

There are undoubtedly many more things I could add to this post, but I’ll break them up into separate posts as I feel the need to rant about them.

To those I don’t get to see, and to reiterate to those I have, a very merry Christmas, or to those who don’t celebrate it I wish a generally happy few days off!
