Quoth The Raven

August 2006

So here it is, the first really whinging post!

I’ve been home from Poland for five weeks, and I don’t know where the time has gone. Apart from stripping wallpaper, and seeing my family (who I love dearly despite what I tell them!). I’m just bored! I should really be doing some reading for the forthcoming modules but I really can’t be bothered. I’m back in Leeds now, and it was nice to see people here. I spend so much time in Leeds that when I’m at home it just feels like things stop. It’s not like I’m the greatest of socialites when I’m in Leeds anyway, but it is nice seeing people and actually having something to focus on! For those that know me, when I have nothing to do I just start getting self-deprecating which is not a good thing.

Now that I have made it to Leeds, I’m actually going away for a few days, so I feel a bit hypocritical about the above! Still, next weekend I have an exec training thingy to go to, then a week of doing (no) reading, then fresher’s week and term starts! Not all my modules have been registered yet, so I’m still 40 credits shy of a full set (say nothing!) but I have been assured that it will be in place before term starts!

The only thing I’ve really done is playing with the web site (yes, that one that you’re staring at). It gives me a nice creative outlet that I wouldn’t otherwise have. Coding, despite the mass of swearing I aim at the website, is very relaxing and gives me something to focus on. There was more than one night when I was staying at my aunty and uncle’s that I’d still be tinkering with code at three in the morning…. who needs a body clock, I ask you? Hopefully I can do something about this over the next couple of weeks, or getting to those 8 hours of lectures a week will be a real problem. Yep, I only have 8 hours of lectures! bwahahaha

Well, this random tirade will now come to an end and I will let you return back to your normal, and no doubt much more entertaining, existence!

The wonderful thing about this blog is that I can write whatever I want and very few people actually seem to want to read it, ergo I can get away with anything!

I spent most of the day babysitting my cousin, light of my life that she is. In doing so, I have drawn these conclusions:
1 - No matter what plans you make for the day, they will always be interrupted by aforementioned small child. In all fairness, it’s not always the child’s fault - you just get caught up in the mind-numbing garbage they want to watch on television or the games they have available! I think I’m actually regressing a few years…. no, don’t say it!
2 - If they could figure out what invisible power source fuels the inexhaustible supply of energy that young children have, electricity would never be a problem ever again!
3 - After watching four hours of a “Those Meddling Kids” marathon, I drew the conclusion, despite him only occupying about 20 mins of those four hours, that Scrappy Doo should die in an exceptionally horrible and painful way, just to shut the irritating little so-and-so up!

Normal service will be restored once this task has been completed!

Today, I have learned two things - one, the people who post comments to my blog entries are certifiably strange, and two, stripping wallpaper is a looooooooooong job! Well what did you think the title meant? ;) After three hours I mutinied… but given that I’m the only person in the house there wasn’t really anyone around to argue!

The paperwork for Uni is mounting exponentially. Loan forms, tuition fees forms, registration reminders (though thankfully I can do all that online now - and it seems to be working, surprisingly). It was nice being 1000 miles away and not particularly worried about any of this paperwork, but now that I’m back I guess something needs doing about it.

For the rest of the afternoon, however, I intend to just work on the Poland page, watch BTTF II (do you ever get the feeling the people on the Vanish adverts take Nitrous Oxide? They seem overly…. happy!), eat, and ignore the large pile of wallpaper in the hall I have to tidy up… It’s a great life!

On a minor edit: They’ve taken the foul language out of BTTF II… the cads!
Further edit: They’ve even taking the shoving out! Who’s responsible? They must pay!
